Roxy-WI / Keepalived management

Keepalived web interface

Manage virtual IPs and high availability clusters with a GUI.

Roxy-WI provides a web interface for Keepalived configuration and cluster administration. Organize the hosts behind a virtual IP, configure HA clusters and inspect configuration files and logs alongside the proxy services they support.

From configuration to operations

What you can do with the Keepalived GUI

Configure an HA cluster

Choose the master and slave hosts, their network interfaces and a virtual IP in the HA cluster workflow. Cluster creation is an Enterprise and Premium feature.

HA cluster setup guide

Work with virtual IPs

Configure the VIP used to reach the cluster and optionally add it to the Roxy-WI server inventory. Follow the network requirements in the guide when choosing addresses and interfaces.

Virtual IP configuration

Inspect Keepalived configuration

Use the Keepalived configuration editor to open files on a selected host and compare saved versions. For clusters managed through the cluster workflow, keep cluster settings as the source for generated configuration.

Investigate cluster events

Open Keepalived service logs to investigate role changes and configuration problems. Check the actual node and service state when testing failover.

A practical first deployment

Prepare a Keepalived cluster

  1. Connect the participating hosts

Install Roxy-WI, add the servers and SSH credentials, and confirm access to every participating node before configuring the cluster.

    Prepare servers and credentials
  2. Define the network and virtual IP

Select the hosts and interfaces and choose a VIP appropriate for their network. The documented HA workflow requires the VIP and server addresses to be on the same network.

    Review cluster requirements
  3. Configure and test the cluster

Apply the cluster configuration, check which node owns the virtual IP and perform a controlled failover test. Review Keepalived and proxy logs before putting the cluster into production.

Keepalived web interface questions

Can I work with Keepalived that is already installed?

Yes. Roxy-WI documents adding existing Keepalived clusters as well as creating new ones. Add the participating hosts and credentials before using the cluster workflow.

Does Roxy-WI replace VRRP?

No. Keepalived continues to implement VRRP on the managed nodes. Roxy-WI helps configure and administer the cluster through its web interface.

Are remote Keepalived checks available in Checker 5?

They require a target-side probe agent or credential provider. Without one, Checker reports remote Keepalived checks as unsupported. Use the Checker documentation when planning monitoring.
